But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10.42

There are things that only Jesus can reveal to us, and He will do so using simple words and examples, but with the power to put us in “our place.” He is the Master par excellence and the Creator of all things, so we must listen to Him. The Lord knows everything, including what we need and what we can or cannot do. Learning from Christ is choosing the good part, because in a short while, we will be well in all aspects.

Every decision you make without the Lord's guidance will be contrary to the divine plan, which desires to see you prosper, but without compromising with evil. It is not good to suffer because of bad choices. Now, if God shows you the way, do not be afraid, because He knows everything and will never let you be ashamed before any authority. Pray before taking action and wait for the answer from the One who can deliver you from any snare.

There is no greater trap than taking advice from those who do not serve God, for even with a servant we must be vigilant. The wicked are led by another spirit, but the saved have the Holy Spirit, who will never teach them anything wrong or cause them to suffer later. Only blessings come from the lips of God, but good advice will never come from the mouths of those whom Heaven does not approve (James 1:17). Evil will always be the enemy of good.

God is very clear about the danger of trusting in man, even those who serve Him, for only He does not err or deceive. Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17.5). The flesh is weak, but the counsel of Heaven will remain: Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord (Jeremiah 17.7).

If you have already found direction, be alert, for the devil will set a snare to take you off the path. He is a master at setting traps to ensnare us and divert us from the Lord's eternal plans. Always present to God any matter on which you will say yes or no, so that He may reveal the truth: It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, and afterward to reconsider his vows (Proverbs 20.25). Stay vigilant and in prayer!

Choose the counsel of Christ, not that of your friends and family, not even that of your pastor, if it comes from his own mind. As you pray and wait for the heavenly answer, read the Bible and see if any verse “jumps” out at you, for God will surely speak to you. However, if you do not feel joy when a passage from the Word catches your attention, wait for the joy of the Lord to confirm that it was He who spoke to you.

The good part always comes from God and will never be taken away from you. What comes from man, on the other hand, is short-lived; at most, it lasts until our death. What is the best decision? Wait for the Lord's guidance: And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24.32). Believe it!

Today's Prayer

God of the right answer! It would be good if we were always seated at Your feet, to know Your will in all things. You promise to do whatever we ask in the Name of Jesus. We cry out for wisdom and direction!

With Your help, we will never make wrong decisions or walk the path of confusion or death. We are dependent on You, so let us see Your light. Thank You, Father!

Mary didn't want to make hasty decisions or miss Your blessing because she didn't know Your will on a matter, so she remained at the feet of Jesus. This way, she wouldn't miss a single word that came from Christ's lips. Guide us too!
