DOCTOR SOARES' STORY
Dr. R. R. Soares was born in 1947 in the city of Muniz Freire in the countryside of Espírito Santo. Being the son of a construction worker and a housewife, his journey was marked by work and faith. In 1958, when he was 11 years old, during a visit to the nearby town, he saw, for the first time, a TV set through a shop window. Realizing that a crowd was standing in front of the establishment, completely fascinated by the screen, he prayed: “No one is using this new invention to talk about the Lord, my God. Give me the means and the opportunity, and I will be on that screen talking about Your love.”

From an early age, Dr. Soares worked to help support his family. In 1964, he moved to Rio de Janeiro and worked as a clothing salesman, a shoeshiner, and a cinema operator. Before becoming a minister of the Gospel, however, Dr. Soares would have some very powerful experiences with God.

The main experience occurred in 1968, after reading the book Healing the sick and casting out devils, by T. L. Osborn, a major milestone in the ministerial life of Dr. R. R. Soares, when he felt the urge to enter the ministry and gave up what had previously been his dream: to study medicine at the Peoples' Friendship University in Moscow, Russia. At that moment, he accepted his calling to the ministry, which made him give up Medicine and have a life dedicated to healing through the Word of the Lord.

Consecrated by Missionary Cecílio Carvalho Fernandes in the former Casa da Bênção in 1973, Dr. R. R. Soares began his journey to win lives for Jesus. In November 1978, through his TV show The Awakening of Faith, broadcast by the defunct TV Tupi, Dr. R. R. Soares began the greatest work of evangelism ever seen on a Brazilian television channel.

In 1980, Dr. R. R. Soares founded the International Grace of God Church, with the first temple founded at 37 Alfredo Dolabela Portela Street, as a temporary headquarters, and later transferred to Lauro Neiva Street in the municipality of Duque de Caxias. In 1981, Dr. Soares made his debut on Band TV with the Grace Church in Your Home TV show, thus becoming one of the most important televangelists in Brazil. With the evolution of his show, which enchanted the public who got to see the power of God every day, another dream was born in his heart: to talk about Jesus during prime time on TV.
In 1980, Dr. R. R. Soares founded the International Grace of God Church, with the first temple founded at 37 Alfredo Dolabela Portela Street, as a temporary headquarters, and later transferred to Lauro Neiva Street, in the municipality of Duque de Caxias.
In 1984, after reading The Name of Jesus by Kenneth E. Hagin, Dr. Soares understood — and began to practice — the doctrine of determination. By this doctrine, the Church understands that one should not ask for God's blessings, but claim them, since they have already been given to humanity through the work that Jesus accomplished on the cross.
On January 1st, 2003, Dr. R. R. Soares premiered The Faith Show on Band TV station where, to this day, millions of people have been saved by the power of God, and miracles have happened during his preaching.

The manifestation of God's power is evident through deliverance and healing of several illnesses. The Word that the Lord had spoken to his heart when he refused the scholarship to answer his ministerial calling was then fulfilled: as a pastor, he would be used to heal many more people, and would even take them to heaven.
