So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts”
Isaiah 6:5
In God’s presence, Isaiah saw himself as he truly was. This is what we must discern when the Word is preached and the anointing is present. In an atmosphere where Heaven and divine power are at work, God speaks and causes us to see who we really are. Why do encounters like this not happen more often or, when they do, why are they not used for our good?
Peter had an experience similar to Isaiah’s when the Master asked to use his boat. At first, Peter must have felt honored by the request. After Christ used his boat and even rewarded him, Peter realized who Jesus truly was (Luke 5:1–11). At times, we fail to realize what He does for us when He uses our “boat” to speak to a sinner and bring him salvation. That act of Christ will echo throughout eternity. God is wonderful!
After blessing the crowd, Christ decided to repay the apostle for the “loan” by performing a work that would crown his day: When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” (Luke 5:4). An important lesson followed, for the experienced fisherman believed that “the sea was not favorable,” yet he declared that he would obey the Word of Christ. What faith!
Peter marveled at seeing the nets so full of fish that they nearly broke. This led him to fall at the Master’s feet: “When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, ‘Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!’” (Luke 5:8). The one most deeply touched by it all was afraid and nearly missed the lesson about who was in the boat. The others were also astonished. Read the entire lesson taught by the Master of masters. And what a Master!
See what happened to John the Baptist. By the Jordan River, he baptized those who heard the Word of the Lord from his lips and repented of their sins. Suddenly, the Creator of all things, the Word of God, appeared before him in line to be baptized. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him (Matthew 3.14,15). What a day!
When will the phrase “Permit it to be so now” be fulfilled? Jesus said that Heaven and earth will pass away, but His words will never pass away. Some things will only be understood in eternity. Whoever gives his life to save the lost, setting aside the lawful pleasures God created, will be rewarded in His Kingdom. Such a person has made the wisest decision.
Incredibly, we were chosen from among the dregs of the world. Perhaps we are the least qualified to serve the eternal King—the One who said that even if we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself (2 Timothy 2:13). What can we say to God except, “Thank You, Lord! Here we are. Send us”?
In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer
God who purifies and sanctifies us! We have no words to express our gratitude for Your goodness in choosing us, calling us, and preparing us to do Your will in these days when people are losing themselves in sin. We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We have been sent for the good of all!
Today, it is no longer a coal from the altar that must touch our lips, for we have already been purified by the blood of Christ. Therefore, we accept Your call to cooperate in Your work of salvation. Help us to number our days, for our time is drawing closer to the end!
There is still much to be done. Awaken those who sleep. They must be awake and ready to cast the nets and catch as many fish as possible. Your work will be accomplished just as You have declared. For this, we must know You!
