And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all its cities together, farmers and those going out with flocks.
Jeremiah 31.24
It seems that people have gone mad, because all they care about is profit, regardless of whether the source is dirty or not. How they get their filthy lucre is the least of their concerns. However, there is one detail that most people fail to notice: punishment for their sins always comes. Those who have known Jesus and the salvation He brought need to be aware that He writes straight with straight lines.
Israel was in Babylonian captivity, announced unmistakably by Jeremiah, known as the weeping prophet. There would be no way out before the deadline (70 years) set by the Lord. To the natural eye, Babylon would dominate the known world for a long time. However, at the right moment, everything began to change. Cyrus, king of Persia, arose to overcome powerful Babylon. The Word of God is always confirmed!
At that time, in Judah, there were no planted fields or houses built. There were ruins, misery, and problems everywhere. The evil that Jeremiah prophesied came to pass. But one day, some relatives of Nehemiah, the cupbearer of King Artaxerxes, went to Shushan and told him about the deplorable state of Jerusalem. Nehemiah learned that the walls were broken and the gates burned. So, he sat down and wept bitterly, prayed, and fasted (Nehemiah 1.1-3). His heart was in the work!
See how God works to manifest His will. The news about Jerusalem moved Nehemiah's heart, and he made the following decision: So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven (Nehemiah 1.4). That day, Nehemiah went to work sad, and the king, seeing him like that, asked him why and sent him to restore Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2.1-4).
Jeremiah prophesied not only punishment, but also that the cities of Judah would be inhabited again, with nothing lacking for the inhabitants. Everything God says happens. Therefore, we need to pay attention to what is taught in the Scriptures about God's will for His children. We have been rescued from the dominion of darkness (Colossians 1.13). Now we are God's special possession (1 Peter 2.9). Never let the devil run your life. Believe in the Lord!
In addition to the restoration of the cities, farmers and shepherds would also go to Judah to work there, and the nation would rise again. No matter what your problem is, the Name of Jesus will do the work necessary to give you life again. God will never patch things up, but rather He will do a splendid work that will amaze everyone. Never give up on your dreams. Believe in God and rise up now!
All those who are going out with flocks will be back, because the Lord's flock cannot be left loose in the world. Shepherds are necessary so that the work of the Eternal One may be done with dedication and holiness. On the other hand, those who allow themselves to be led astray by the enemy will see that the evils from which they were already free will return and bring seven times more suffering (Luke 11.24-26).

Today's Prayer
Father! Sadness overwhelmed the faithful cupbearer. Nehemiah didn't even realize that Your hand had placed him to serve King Artaxerxes, for he would be a fundamental piece in those days. How many almost give up on staying where You have placed them?
New professionals will present themselves to do the work You have entrusted to them – cupbearers, accountants, lawyers, and others called to serve You. We are part of Your eternal plan, having Your hand upon our lives. Therefore, we should not complain about what You have determined for us!
The cities of Your Kingdom will be inhabited again, just as those of Judah were. Farmers and other workers will once again produce riches in Your Kingdom of love and Truth, people will be saved and reconciled to You, and Your flock will have shepherds after Your own heart!
