Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?

Hebrews 12.9

When a person has a wise and prudent father, it is likely that they will become good people. However, if their father is lax, they will probably get into serious trouble. It's good to study God's Word so that we never give the wrong opinion or do anything that could tarnish the name of Christian. After all, we are the Lord's living letter and children of God. We cannot get involved in situations that will bring us a bad reputation (John 1.12; 2 Co 3.2,3).

We must follow our greatest Example, Jesus, who freed us from the empire of evil, and be ready to bear witness as children of the Light (Collosians1.12,13). The world doesn't know us, because we say we are from God, but we don't prove it. We need to live faith in Christ, which is obtained by hearing the Word. If we abide in Jesus, and His words abide in us (John 15:7), everyone will surround us to learn the value of serving God.

It's good when someone can count on a father to correct them, take them off the wrong path and lead them in the right direction. God acts in the same way towards those who have been received into His Kingdom of love and peace. As a child of God, the saved person is loved to the end. No evil shall befall him, and he shall not fear nor be dismayed by anything, for the Most High is his Shield (Psalm 91; 18.30).

Although we don't like the discipline given by our parents, we are grateful for it. They knew that the correction was aimed at our future, so that everything would work out in our lives. Jesus let us know that God really loves us and helps us to walk in the Truth. Many who see us are frightened because they haven't yet adjusted to the law of the Lord!

We have to submit to God, the true, kind and loving Father, who watches over His children. He works like a good cook who, in order to give us peace of mind and love, makes a point of putting food on the table that can change our lives and strengthen us. The Most High tells us that it doesn't matter if the wicked have done something against us. No weapon formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me, says the LORD (Isaiah 54.17).

The Lord is the Father of good spirits, but remember: evil spirits were once good angels. But because they followed Satan, they became agents of the evil kingdom, walking in the path of deceit (Revelation 12.7-9). We have to go anywhere to protect the innocent and the unsuspecting. God guarantees that we will not be confused (1 Peter 2.6). The power of the Most High will lead us to Him and then we will be truly free. Surrender yourself to Christ too!

Our subjection to God enables Him to protect and use us. When we learn from Him, we become blessings in His hands. In this way, we can rejoice in a powerful and wonderful way, because we have gone from being unqualified people to being members of His Body!

             In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

Lord, our Master! We want to praise You for what You do and will do for us. It is not easy to lead individuals from different cultures to You, so that they may be Your beloved children. Father, we thank You for Your grace upon us!

Not only have our parents according to the flesh corrected us and led us to be disciples of Jesus, but your Holy Spirit has accompanied us since before we were born and led us into Your kingdom of love and holiness, into the perfect law of freedom!

We gladly submit to Your corrections, because we don't want to lose ourselves in sins that would disqualify us from eternal life. We are grateful for salvation and for everything You have done on our behalf!
