Please, take my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” So he urged him, and he took it.

Genesis 33.11

The enmity between the twins began in Rebekah's womb and ended at the meeting prepared by the Lord. Even if they didn't get along well with each other, peace would come, for the Word says: When a man’s ways please the Lord,

He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Proverbs 16:7). God will always bless those whose ways are pleasing to Him. So, do good!

When Esau went out with 400 men to find Jacob, he planned to fulfill what his soul had always wanted: to finish off his brother, who had taken his birthright, which Esau himself had taken from him while still in his mother's womb (Genesis 25:21–23). Esau's intention was to kill Jacob with the fury and hatred that reigned within him. Fearing this encounter, Jacob spent the night wrestling with God and became a prince, for he prevailed in this struggle (Genesis 32:24–30). Jacob's name changed to Israel. Esau saw him and wept!

We have to learn to fight with God in order to overcome our inner selves. Jacob triumphed over his own fear while fighting at Peniel. Then the joy of his soul overcame Esau's hatred for him. Esau didn't know that his brother had fought someone infinitely superior to him and his 400 bloodthirsty men. After Jacob's act of faith, Esau’s heart was appeased. The Lord was on Jacob's side. God is good!

At first, Esau refused his brother's offer. However, due to Jacob's insistence and explanation, Esau's heart was broken for good. So, peace was sealed between them. Jacob was being friendly with his brother because he knew what his brother was capable of. Esau proposed: Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you. (Genesis 33.12). Jacob wisely made Esau understand that this was unnecessary!

Jacob said that the Most High had dealt graciously with him. Therefore, as a token of love, he wanted to share some of his possessions with Esau. Now, a negotiation requires a heart of iron, and people don't realize the power of true arguments. God's help enabled Jacob to overcome his brother with heavenly wisdom. Negotiating well is a divine virtue!

Since he had everything, Jacob didn't have to worry about lacking anything. This explanation convinced Esau to let Jacob go on his way. Certainly, the heart of the one who prevailed by fighting with God would overcome anyone who presented themselves with good or bad intentions. Never forget what the Most High has been telling you, because He has been preparing you to win your causes!

Jacob continued to insist that Esau take what he offered him because he knew that, in the end, he would prevail over his brother. So, using more wisdom, he made Esau go ahead, and he would follow him from a distance since the cattle and children couldn't move as fast. Esau wanted to leave some of his men with him, but Jacob talked him out of that idea too!

Today's Prayer

God of negotiations! Esau found Jacob and realized that his brother was not what he thought he was. With that, their rivalry ended. Jacob had two wives from the land of his parents, unlike Esau, who, to spite his parents, married several women from Canaan. You helped Jacob!

Father, You will rescue anyone whose purpose is good, even if they don't love You and are given to violence. You will change their hearts to make peace with those who love and serve You. Jacob was victorious twice, when he fought with the angel and with his brother!

We want to take part in a fight with You because You strengthened the heir to the blessing and made him never forget such encounter. Jacob would need Your strength to succeed in the fight with You and Esau
