I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.

Isaiah 45.3

This is a text from the Word of God, therefore, we must bear in mind that this verse from Isaiah was not only referring to Cyrus, the Medo-Persian who defeated the Babylonian king and his people. The Almighty used the prophet to explain about humanity today, because, ever since Jesus went to Hell to strip Satan of the authority stolen from man (Colossians 2.12-15), we must not accept that what was written by His servant has only a historical connotation, but also a prophetic one for us!

Therefore, understand that Cyrus was a type of the Messiah, who came to deliver us from the empire of darkness. This biblical passage mentions hidden treasures. At that time, it was common for the fortunes of nations, such as gold, silver and others, to be hidden from thieves. In the verse under study, the Lord is talking about the spiritual riches hidden in Christ, which the devil knew nothing about when he was the guardian cherub (Isaiah 14.12-18; Ezekiel 28.12-19). Jesus defeated him in his house!

We are the heirs of these eternal and hidden gifts, because the Son died for our salvation and possession of them. The Bible talks about them: The secret things belong to the LORD our God; but those things which are revealed belong to us us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law (Deuteronomy 29.29). Believe it!

God is absolute in the Universe. When we go to Heaven, we will receive these riches. He is Lord, and before Him, no god has been formed or will be formed. When we experience the full reality of the Most High, we will experience it more closely and confirm with joy that our Creator and Father truly is the Lord of everything (Isaiah 43:10). How beautiful it will be to be in Glory!

He is the God of Israel, of the man Jacob, who had such pure and strong faith that he wrestled with the Lord all night long in an incredible way (Genesis 32.22-32). The disproportion between them was great. The son of Isaac and Rebekah was a man, and on the other side was Jesus in His eternal form as Son. However, Jacob did not give up, but prevailed. The Angel Himself said that the patriarch wrestled with God (Genesis 32.28). In my opinion, the Lord gave him the strength not to lose heart and, at the same time, tested him to the limits of a human being.

The Most High promised to give Cyrus the treasures of darkness and the hidden riches, and He did so, because he was a type of Christ. Taking hold of Babylon's great palace, which had a hundred bronze gates, was easier than expected. Because of a noise coming from outside, the king authorized them to check the situation. Unwisely, they opened the doors, and two groups of soldiers rushed in under the command of Gobryas and Gadati, entered and executed the king.

Being right with God, man is prepared to take on whatever is required of him. Always be prudent! If you walk in the ways of the Lord, you and your people will be led in triumph. Imagine how upset King Belshazzar must have been by the finger writing on the wall! Daniel interpreted that scripture, and that night the king was killed (Daniel 5.13-30).

Today's Prayer

Lord of Heaven and Earth! The Babylonian empire seemed invincible, but for You there is no such thing. In a simple way, the Persian soldiers entered the palace and put an end to a kingdom that had taken Your people into slavery!

You had promised Cyrus to do the work, but when he arrived, his men had already brought justice to the kingdom he ruled with an iron fist. The written prophecy had its characters interpreted by Daniel, and that very night the king was annihilated!

May we understand Your plan so as not to hinder Your work! In faraway places, You will move Your power to put an end to what You have said, for which we give thanks. The man of sin will come, but Jesus will annihilate him!
