It happened on the same night that the Lord said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.

Judges 7.9

We have many good things to teach those who are new to the faith in Christ. Many have received it by listening to the Word of God and have become successful in their daily Christian walk and in the Lord's work. Not giving new converts direction to serve God and achieve the same success as Jesus is to despise the teachings of the Master Himself. Those who learn to act in faith please the Lord.

The Most High spoke to Gideon, saying that He had delivered the camp of the Midianites into his hands, so that he could take it. Now, if God had not said this, the son of Joash would not have had the promised victory. When you feel, through the Word, that the Father has given you authority to do His work, you will be able to cast out the demons that afflict people and command diseases to leave the bodies of those who are sick. After all, Jesus did this.

Gideon heard what God said, but there was still a little doubt in his heart. Then, in the following verses (vv. 10-11), the Lord commanded him to go down to the Midianite camp to hear from his enemies themselves that this feat depended only on his action (vv. 13-14). Thus, it became clear that God does not want us to fulfill our mission if our hearts are still filled with doubt or fear, for this will hinder the execution of His plans.

On the other hand, if we trust in the Lord, we will have the success we desire, for when He calls us to do something, the power over the enemy has already been granted to us. In fact, God will be at our side to do what is necessary. His Word does not return to Him without being fulfilled (Isaiah 55:11). Remember: we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). By faith, we are victorious!

Every Christian who desires to be victorious should read what the Lord said to Joshua, son of Nun and successor to Moses, in Joshua 1:1-9 and meditate on this text day and night. As Christians, we are the continuers of the work begun by Christ in His days on Earth. We can do what He did when His Father commanded Him. The devil and demons will never stop us; we just need to be obedient to God.

No matter how big the work the Almighty wants us to do, His Word has the power to move mountains into the sea, as long as faith leads us to glorify Him in Christ through our actions (John 14:13-14). It is good to always be in communion with the Most High, so that everything is done as Jesus did. Determination is the mission we must carry out, so that divine power can accomplish the work commanded. Believe!

Nowadays, God speaks to us through His Word, and no longer through dreams, visions, and prophets, as He did in the past (Hebrews 1:1). The Word of God is one of the names by which Jesus is called (John 1:1; Revelations 19:13). He and His Word are one. Therefore, believe and begin to carry out the heavenly will revealed in the Bible!

Today's Prayer

Lord of the Word, the living Word! Jesus is the Word and, as such, has the power to do, through our ministry, the same works He did while He was among us. We thank You for this revelation, but we ask that You teach us more and use us for Your glory!

Gideon's mission was to deliver Your people from the hands of the Midianites. Meditating on their deeds, we see that we can also carry out Your work today, for Your hand will use us as it used Your Son.

Father, see the evil in us, deliver us from lies and temptations, and forgive our sins. Scripture declares that we must confess our sins to one another so that we may be forgiven, healed, and cleansed from all unrighteousness. Amen!
