When we don't give Jesus command of our lives, we empower the kingdom of evil to attack us. Christ is Lord over us. By believing in him, we will have his help against the devil and his attacks. Remember: the disciples took the Master to the boat just as he was, and this caused a great windstorm. They didn't realize their mistake, but Jesus found a cushion, clung to it and lay down in the stern!

           Many people say they don't understand the Lord, claiming that He doesn't protect them. The mistake is always in our actions, which are worthless because they were not born in the Master's heart. We need to allow Him to tell us how to act, where to go or where to stay. In the new birth, granted the moment we accept Jesus, we also receive the power to be children of God (John 1.12).

          We shouldn't be afraid of windstorms or other disturbing sources. If we stand firm on the Word, we will emerge victorious from the bad situations that form against our lives. But without divine guidance, we can do nothing (John 15:5). Without Christ, it is difficult to free ourselves from the devil's evil and the suffering he places in the lives of the irresponsible. Whoever walks with the Lord will always win!   

           The works of the devil can come with great threats to those who are not of God. However, the person who calls on the Name of Jesus will see that it is worth being in Covenant with Him, because His promises will be fulfilled in their entirety. Never fear or complain about your pain. You only have to believe to see the Lord's power manifesting itself on your behalf. When He sees one of His loved ones using his prerogatives in the Son, the Father fights for them.

          The situation in the boat became so serious that the waves covered it. However, as the disciples had already seen Jesus calm the sea on other occasions, they could trust that evil would never triumph. After all, no calamity will befall the servant of the active God (Psalm 91.10). Having the Word of Heaven at work in your life prevents the forces of darkness from reaching you and overwhelming you. A Christian only falls when he lets fear take over his soul. Believe it!

         In the next lesson, we will study a little more about the attitude of the disciples, who did not consider the Master as the Lord who could paralyze the fiery darts of the evil one. Seeing their neglect, Christ could do nothing, so He went to sleep on a pillow. If they had respected Him, they wouldn't have gone through that struggle or another stumble. Then, realizing their own inability to resolve the situation, they woke up the Savior, and He gave them peace.

           It looked like the boat was going to sink as the waters filled it. Even though Jesus was on board, the waves threatened to capsize the boat, but the Son of God acted, and peace came. This shows us that, even in impossible situations, we only have to pray and believe to see God's action.
