ONE OF HEROD'S MISTAKES

For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife; for he had married her
Mark 6:17
When we reflect on our mistakes and thoughtless actions, we discover everything that embarrasses us. Human nature leads us to exaggerate in many attitudes, which is why we become sad, sick, and discouraged. When our lives are disordered, we offend the Being who created us in His image and likeness (Romans 3:23). Therefore, in order to be in communion with God, we cannot neglect the virtue and blessing of reading the Bible (Psalm 1:1–3; Proverbs 3:1–10). In addition, we must take care of our bodies, for example, by exercising.
We are born in sin, separated from the Lord; therefore, we are tempted by the enemy's offers. David spoke about his birth, saying that he was formed in iniquity (Psalm 51:5), but he did not mean that his mother was a prostitute. He knew the story of man's fall and knew that he was born separated from God. Humanity was born corrupted by Adam's sin. Therefore, we must preach the Good News!
Herod was an Edomite, and throughout his life he acquired and practiced errors. If people understood what the Scriptures teach about the Savior's sacrifice on behalf of all, there would be great change in society in a short time. It is sad to see humanity walking toward the lake of fire and brimstone. Watch!
John was right to point out one of Herod's sins: defiling the sacred act of marriage. The king knew of his transgression, but continued in it and, of course, met a sad end. Many think that the old sin no longer exists, but they are mistaken. When we commit iniquities, we become stained. Therefore, we must repent in order to draw near to the Lord.
Herod had John the Baptist arrested and put in prison. But what did John do to deserve such suffering? He exhorted the king not to take his brother's wife, since it was unlawful. For this reason, the prophet remained in prison. He obeyed God, acting as a servant of the truth. How many people have taken actions that harmed those who only wanted the best for them? That was the mistake made by the Idumean king against the holy prophet!
To marry Herodias, his brother's wife, Herod acted against heavenly guidance. Now, anyone who disregards the Creator's order is capable of harming anyone, even those he enjoys listening to. Herod enjoyed listening to John, but that did not mean that the king would obey the Lord (Mark 6:20). Many people enjoy listening to the sermons of preachers who teach the Word of God, but if Christ came today, they would be lost.
Get right with the Lord while there is still time! When Jesus comes for His Church, those who did not take time to examine the Bible will not be saved. After the Savior closes the door of salvation, no one else will enter His Kingdom (Matthew 25:1–13). React as soon as possible!
In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer
Holy God! You used John to warn Herod that he could be saved, but to do so he had to leave his sinful life. The king found pleasure in hearing the Truth from the prophet's lips, but he did not give it a place in his heart.
John announced the Way, preaching to the lost to leave their dissolute lives, and many of those who accepted the Word were baptized in the waters of the Jordan. The rebellious Herod did not realize that he needed to be converted!
The king acted like a fool by taking his brother's wife and being influenced by her, leading John to be chained in prison and beheaded. How much foolishness against Your prophet! May we always be attentive to Your voice!
