And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your hearing today, that you may learn them and be careful to observe them.
Deuteronomy 5.1
3,500 years ago, Moses was used by God to lead the Hebrews, a people of more than 3 million, out of Egypt to Canaan, the Promised Land to the patriarchs (Genesis 12.1-9). These people had to go through teachings in order to become a great nation. The journey lasted 40 years through the most dangerous place of that time, the desert (Deuteronomy 2.7). They followed him and reached the limit of the land they would possess.
Then Moses copied down the commandments, ordinances and statutes on the most varied subjects to be respected and the judgments established by God, for them to use in the Land of Promise. They were to do everything in the territory where they were placed. Until those days, death acted as if it owned the world. With the Law, the Most High created an outlet to free His own from oppression.
By complying with these ordinances, they would show that they feared the Lord and respected His words. The command was for couples and their children to do as they were told every day. If they did this, they would be successful. The Law of Moses was not ideal, but since the Messiah had not yet come to defeat the darkness of this world, the Law was the best and would give life to those who practiced it.
Through the natural eyes, what God did seemed foolish, because there was no way the Israelites could triumph over the hardships of the desert and the many fortified adversaries along the way. However, because they walked in the precepts of the Lord, no enemy could destroy them. The Mosaic Law was a symbol of the perfect law of freedom, the Gospel, which has been in force since Jesus' resurrection (Hebrews 10:1; James 1:25). The Good News of Christ must be preached everywhere. Without Him, the people are trapped in the devil's hands.
When we proclaim the Good News to the lost, there is an uprising to prevent the evangelized from learning the redemptive message of the cross. As a result, according to the authorities, these people will remain under their thumb. Pharaoh thought so and thought that God sending Moses was madness. However, with the power from On High, the plagues came upon the Egyptians, who had no respect for the Most High, and they despaired (read Exodus, chapters 1 to 15). God hears the prayer of the righteous!
The heirs to the promise were enslaved by that nation. A total of 430 years of oppression had passed since Abraham's entry into that country. The perfect initiative came from the Lord. Today, there are people living under the cloak of the enemy, trapped in endless sins, but Jesus paid the price for the liberation of the oppressed, the healing of diseases and eternal salvation for all.
Since the Messiah's resurrection, the world has heard the sweet message of salvation, and the enemy doesn't want this announcement to reach the ends of the earth. Nevertheless, whether they like it or not, people will hear what Christ has done on their behalf and, by believing, they will be delivered from evil.
In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer
Lord, our Master! The message revealed through Moses has already been spoken to the lost: if they believe, they will be saved, set free and healed. It will not be prevented from circulating everywhere; after all, it is the Word that created the world!
Canaan was the Promised Land for the Israelites, but we need to gain an understanding of who You are and what we are in You. There will be no more chance for the evil one to imprison us. Whoever is saved by Christ is free!
We have the power to fulfill Your Word. With it, we will fight to possess what You have promised us. Our victory is more than certain, because Jesus shed His blood on our behalf. We are more than conquerors in You!
