SHALL NOT GO UNPUNISHED

For thus says the Lord: “Behold, those whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunk. And are you the one who will altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink of it.

Jeremiah 49.12

Based on the prophecy given by God to Jeremiah about Edom, a country descended from Esau, let's study our position regarding the Father's revelations to us. Our concern is to be perfect in the fear of God in everything that comes our way. According to the Bible, the spirit of the prophet is subject to him (1 Corinthians 14:32), and this shows that we must say yes to the Lord's guidance.

It is important to remember that when God declares something, it is the Truth speaking; therefore, in His declarations, never is there any evil or error. Therefore, considering the words of the Most High as a mission is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 3.1-10). Even if the work seems too difficult for us, we mustn't give up on it, because the Father wouldn't make the mistake of giving us a task without providing us with the necessary tools and techniques to carry out His plan. Understand: there are no excuses!

Some people don't understand that there is a direct divine will for each individual and one for the nation: in both, we have a responsibility. God said that everyone would drink from the cup, including those who were not condemned to do so, because they were part of the whole. Now, we should never say no to the Lord; after all, we are part of a group a nation or a church. The city-state of Meroz, for example, was cursed for not helping the army gathered by Deborah and Barak (Judges 5:23).

Meroz didn't come to the aid of Jacob's sons, even though he had nothing against them. Jabin, the king of Canaan, had oppressed God's people for 20 years. However, the Israelites repented of their sins and with that came judgment on Canaan for having taken the opportunity to oppress them with violence. In the rescue plan for Israel, Meroz was called, but they preferred not to enter the war.

The result of this decision was that the inhabitants of Meroz were cursed. They could not say that they had nothing against Canaan, as if they had not received a divine order to cooperate in applying justice to Jabin's wicked treatment of an entire nation. Everyone in Meroz would suffer for refusing to help Israel. With this attitude, they were saying no to the Lord. Take care and obey your heavenly Father!

The Most High does not accept excuses against His will. Everything that comes out of His mouth is righteous, without any trace of evil (James 1:16,17). Those who have prospered without giving anything to the Kingdom of Heaven will be treated similarly. The person who felt the divine touch and didn't heed to it, failing to collaborate in the evangelization of the world, or approved some act contrary to nature, will receive punishment. This is the message to those who say they have nothing against someone's sin.

Analyze your actions! If you've been approving them in a concealed manner - without revealing what God says about them, so as not to implicate yourself - you're far from Him and will therefore drink the cup of eternal tragedy. Repent and return to fellowship and obedience to the Lord!

Today's Prayer

Righteous God! In Your work, there can be no disagreement; otherwise, it will be proven that wickedness reigns in a life. Those who have received Your touch need to remove all feelings contrary to the Truth, because they still have connections with the enemy!

May Your declarations be kept in our hearts, so that we can do Your will! As the Master said, he who does not gather with Him scatters. When it comes to divine work, we need the guidance of Your Word.

Let us drink from the cup of grace, lest we drink from the cup of indignation! We want to fulfill Your command, even if it's almost impossible. By heeding to it, we will receive the power to carry out such a noble, rich and blessed mission!
