Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it?

Genesis 18:24

Intercession cannot stop or diminish, nor can it be abandoned, for the Lord Himself has established it. God's plans are not flawed and should not be redone or set aside. From the beginning, the divine hand has been upon us, so the end will be wonderful. It is worth remembering that the intercessor stands between God and the lost, serving as a bridge, so that no evil befalls that person or any place.

Those who, touched by the Spirit, sense that something is about to happen to someone have the opportunity to intercede with the Father to restrain evil. However, they must follow the Word, which says: So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” (Luke 10.27). This implies obeying the commandments (John 14:21).

In order to prevent the death of the righteous who lived in Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham interceded so that those cities might be spared from destruction. He sensed that the moment demanded it, for God's judgment was imminent. So, as he stood in the presence of the Lord, he pleaded that they might be given one more chance. Intercede and do not stop fighting!

Abraham asked if the Lord would destroy the cities if there were 50 righteous people in them. Realizing that there were not that many, the patriarch lowered the number to 45, 40, 30, 20, and finally to 10 righteous people. He must have been astonished by such a low number (Genesis 18:20-19:29). Lot, the patriarch's nephew, had chosen to live in Sodom, but there he was unable to influence anyone to convert to God. Therefore, that city and the surrounding ones would cease to exist. Watch, pray, and believe!

At any moment, the final judgment of humanity will come. But first, Jesus will return to the world to take His Church, which is described as the Bride of the Lamb, with Him to Heaven. She did not give in to vanity; rather, she remained steadfast in her faith in Christ, showing everyone that it is worthwhile to be faithful and without spot or wrinkle (Revelation 19:7,8). The Church has been prepared for this unique meeting in the air, when it will be taken to the Kingdom of God (1 Thessalonians 4:11-18). Strive to be among the redeemed!

We have a responsibility to be used by God to proclaim the Gospel and lead our generation to believe and be rescued by the Most High. We need to preach to as many people as possible so that they understand the Good News of what Christ did for humanity at Calvary. There is only one way to obtain salvation: by believing that Jesus gave His life so that we might be forgiven and regenerated, escaping eternal death and the destruction that will come upon the wicked (John 3:16-21).

If Jesus were to return today, would most people stand at His right hand because they believed His promise and remained faithful to Him? I don't think so. As He Himself said, this generation resembles the people of Noah's day (Luke 17:26-27). Noah preached for 120 years, but apart from his family, no one else believed and was saved.

In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

Righteous Lord! In the blink of an eye, Your Son will return. Those who have not had a true encounter with the Savior and have not lived under the new Covenant, sealed with the blood of Jesus, will not be at Your right hand, but at Your left. Have mercy!

Those whom Your angels place at Your right will hear Your voice calling them to enter and inherit the Kingdom prepared since the foundation of the world. We want to be part of this group that was not ashamed of You and did Your will!

Those who are placed at Your left will despair, for You have already warned that they will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, the second death, and from there they will never come out. Father, give Your people reverence, discernment, and wisdom, so that they do not get involved in any kind of sin!
