Because you have burned incense and because you have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord or walked in His law, in His statutes or in His testimonies, therefore this calamity has happened to you, as at this day.

Jeremiah 44.23

Nothing happens by chance. As the Word of God says: Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap (Galatians 6.7). Whether your mind accepts it or not, the Creator of all things is responsible for the law of sowing and reaping. What happens to you today is the result of your sowing in the past. So if you sow good seeds, you will reap good fruit tomorrow.

Judah was part of David's kingdom, but the authorities and the people decided to live like the other nations, and the result was bad, as Jeremiah said. The southern kingdom sowed the bad seeds, burning incense to the “gods” - demons - of the pagan peoples (1 Corinthians10:20). As a result, the harvest came unexpectedly. As a consequence, they would go to Babylon and become slaves there, and so it happened. Turn to the Lord and see how good He is!

The inhabitants of Judah not only burned incense, but also disobeyed God in everything, so they went into captivity. They would see how much the Most High's heart had ached when He delivered them into Nebuchadnezzar's hands. They would learn that the yoke of the Lord is better than the yoke of man. Check your behavior and don't let yourself be influenced by the evil one. Otherwise, you will become a servant of the wicked. In other words, your boss will be Satan. Watch out!

Everything bad happened to the southern kingdom because they stopped following the law of the Lord, giving in to the temptation to ignore the voice of the Most High. Thus, they were subjected to the king of Babylon. If they had listened to the Most High, they would have been blessed and masters of their own house (Isaiah 1:19). Jesus went to prepare a dwelling for us in the Father's eternal Kingdom, but all who reject Him will be sent to the lake of fire and brimstone (John 14:2,3; Revelation 20:11-15). What is the best decision?

God warns us to walk in His commandments, but, like the people of Judah, many refuse to do so and, when they are sent to the lake of fire and brimstone, they will despair and beg for mercy. Because they have mocked God's warnings, they will behave like the people of Noah's day, mocking the old man who urged them to convert. They didn't listen to him and perished in the Flood (Matthew 24:36-39).

What happened to the kingdom of Judah is nothing compared to what will come upon those who preferred orgy to holiness. Nothing more can be done for these people, for they will reap according to the seeds they sow (Galatians 6:7-8). The saved, on the other hand, will hear Jesus inviting them to enter and possess the Kingdom prepared for them since the foundation of the world. At the Judgment, there will be no mercy or love, because it will be the day of judgment for the unconverted!

As happened with the arrival of Nebuchadnezzar, it will happen at the return of Christ. The first time, He came to save; the second time, it will be to judge the living and the dead and give everyone what they preferred in life. Take care, for the dwelling place in fire and brimstone will be eternal!

Today's Prayer

Lord of the eternal law! It doesn't matter what man says, but what You declare will happen at Jesus' second coming. Those who believe in You will be called to enter Your Kingdom of love, peace and prosperity, and the rest, into the lake of fire and brimstone!

Why do some people prefer to live far from You, if You are the Creator? They don't think straight. Instead, they give in to the lies of the enemy to “enjoy life”, as they say. The day will come when there will no longer be an option to be saved. We thank You for our salvation!

We need to love You and cling to You, because we don't want the lake of fire and brimstone as our eternal home. In fact, we don't even want to spend a day in perdition. Father, help Your children to be wise so that they don't backslide!
