Now Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel

Genesis 29.16

In His "mathematics," the Lord uses His expertise to continue the human race. If, in one house, more boys are born and, in others, girls prevail, when they grow up, they will be able to marry. How would humanity be if more people of the gender that pleases the parents were born? Who would endure the loneliness that would fall upon those who fear God? No one should change the original plan for man and woman. The Father knows what He is doing, and you must obey Him.

Nothing is healthier than people accepting biblical guidance to live in harmony, within divine will. When man is in communion with the Most-High, the rain comes at the right time; however, if there is a deviation from purpose on man's part, hunger and need arise to bring people back to the right path. The Lord taught that to obey is better than to sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). Understand: your greatest battle is to walk in righteousness!

The Most High never errs, and His counsel adjusts us to the standard in which evil will never disturb us. Strive to learn from the Scriptures what is right and wrong, so as not to sin, but rather to be used by God: The law of truth was in his mouth, and injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and equity, and turned many away from iniquity. (Malachi 2.6) This is the good path to follow!

Jacob loved his uncle Laban's younger daughter, Rachel, whose name means sheep. As for his sister, Leah, her name means tired or exhausted, which can also be translated as wild cow. Maybe, because she had a problem with her eyes, which were tender, she was called tired. For me, that was not the motivation behind Jacob's choice for Rachel, but the inexplicable affection he felt in her presence. So, he offered to work for seven years to marry her.

Many choose to remain alone and, in doing so, do not honor the Lord. By acting this way, they despise the Word, for thus God has spoken: “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”  (Genesis 2.18). The Most High fulfills this promise in the life of those who love Him – who have His commandments and keep them (John 14:21). Love the Lord indeed!

Jacob traveled along rudimentary roads for about 750 kilometers until he reached the place determined by his father, where his mother's relatives lived. According to some theologians, it is estimated that when he left home, Jacob was about 70 years old, an old single man. The purpose of his journey was to find a wife, and God guided him. Many do not follow the Lord's advice and make excuses to not fulfil the divine plan. What is the reason for this?

The saved will be brought before the judgment seat of Christ, where they will answer for everything they did with their bodies, as His Word says: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad (2 Corinthians 5.10). There is still time to set things right!

Today's Prayer

God of the family plan! How good it would be if people followed Your direction for the perpetuation of the species! Some have been led astray by the devil and will have to give an account on Judgment Day. Jacob walked a great distance!

The Messiah would come from the one who waited so long to fulfill Your designs to bring Your Son. May the brothers in Christ seek from You the project of Your heart and go in search of "brides" for the Savior. Thus, Your house will be filled!

Make us obedient servants, fulfilling Your mission, and not our own will. The vanity of the proud and rebellion cannot be in us, but rather, respect for You!
