Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people Israel

1 Chronicles 17:7

It doesn't matter the conditions in which you were born and raised. When you meet Jesus and recognize Him as your Savior and Lord, a radical change begins in your being. Now, you need to seek God to know His will for your life: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11).

David could have been resentful toward his father, who sent him to tend sheep while he was still young. The son of Jesse was obedient to what the divine Law requires of children: Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 5:16). David's fear of the Lord did not prevent him from escaping the dangers that surrounded that pasture. He believed and was victorious!

God saw David's love and dedication and gave him a new mission: he would no longer be the shepherd of his father's sheep, but the shepherd of the entire nation descended from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. David was anointed king of Israel and, for years, was persecuted and almost killed by Saul. But on every occasion, even when there seemed to be no escape, God helped him, and David was never touched by those who wanted to kill him. The Most High takes care of those who put their faith in Him and are willing to learn lessons that will be useful to them.

While he was a shepherd, David must have felt lonely and homesick many times. However, even though he was very young, he already thought like a grown-up. It is likely that when he heard stories of people who had done wrong, he told himself that he would never do such a thing. It is good to avoid the devil's offers to take advantage of shady deals, illicit goods, and pleasures. It is better not to skip steps, but to prepare yourself for a solid career and a happy family blessed by God!

As the leader of Israel, David could not act as many others did. Thus, persevering in the fear of God, he assumed the position of king and continued to obey the Lord, being someone in whom He could trust. Those who abuse the power they receive to govern do not know how much they will suffer if they do not repent. We have the example of the Savior and His teachings, which are blessings and keep us on the path to Heaven. Whoever is faithful over a few things will have much (Matthew 25:21)!

It is very good to remember who we were before we were invested with authority. See what God reminded David: And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a name like the name of the great men who are on the earth. (1 Chronicles 17:8). He will do the same for you. Be sincere and faithful. Never forget your love for the Lord or His principles!

At all times, God will be with you to destroy the evil forces that rise up against your life. He will make your enemies respect your faith and your name. You will be recognized as a good and faithful servant forever!

In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

Rewarding God! It is good to know that You send messages to those who serve You with love and faithfulness to Your Word. May we always count on Your messages, so that we do not fail to do what pleases You. We thank You for making us Your children!

You place us where You wish, to be faithful servants in little things. But, as we learn to serve You with faithfulness and love, we will be promoted and placed in high places, where we never imagined we would be. How we love You, Father!

At all times, Your eyes see us, You know what has been and still is in our hearts. We will never abandon You nor fail to give You the lordship You deserve. Forgive us for our faults!
