And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’

Luke 4.8

Jesus allowed the devil to tempt Him and did not send him away immediately, so that God's servants could learn a bit more about the cunning of the evil one in trying to deceive human beings. In the devil, there is all that is evil. We must focus on the Word of the Lord, for it is Jesus among us. Only then will we be able to do the will of the Father, having been forgiven and saved: And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53.6c).

This was the second great temptation that the chief of Hell cast upon the Master, but He would soon send him away empty-handed. It is in this way that the children of God must also expel the enemy when he comes with his cunning. We are the closed garden of Jesus: A garden enclosed is my sister, my spouse, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. (Song of Solomon 4.12). Therefore, our door should never open to learn from the deceiver, but rather from our beloved Father.

No matter how much the devil tries to convince you that he performs "good" works, never believe it. The Good Shepherd declared: You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.  (John 8.44). We have as Lord and Father Him who is the Truth (John 14:6).

Jesus stated that the saved will inherit the Kingdom prepared for them since the foundation of the world (Matthew 25:34). Why would we want the bad things? Everything in the physical world was contaminated with the fall of Adam. Therefore, we must believe in what the Lord says about our future, which will be glorious, and ignore the tempter. Let's free those who are trapped in his clutches!

The response of Christ to the devil was: Get behind Me, Satan! Our mouths should only utter those words to the evil one. Having been an angel before his fall, he retains the ability to deceive humanity. Remember: the strength of the angel is greater than that of man! The door of our life can only be opened by God, in the person of the Lord Jesus (Revelation 3:20). He is the Solution for any situation. Forever we will live in the house of the Most High.

Jesus did not delay when He showed the devil that worship is something that cannot be dedicated to any other being, only to the Creator. We are the people sought and found to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). Great is our privilege and our choice, for we will never leave His blessed presence. Who is like our God?

Finally, Christ said that we will only serve Him. Those who listen to Satan submit to the most wicked and perverse being that exists. The demons are already and will remain in complete defeat. They will never repent; therefore, their destination is the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41). Believe in Jesus!

Today's Prayer

Beloved Father! It is beautiful to hear that we are Your enclosed garden, therefore we will never open ourselves to the enemy. That would be adultery that would close the door of Heaven to us. We want to dwell in Your house forever and ever!

We are not interested in any proposal from the devil. They are all lies, and even if any were true, which will never happen, only Your Word dwells in us. You are Assistance, Strength, and a very present help in times of trouble.

We thank You for Your grace, which has brought us Your mercy and other blessings. We give You the lordship of our lives. We are Yours forever. We will live in Your presence in Heaven! Hallelujah!
