For Your mercy is great above the heavens, and Your truth reaches to the clouds

Psalm 108.4

David lived important moments before God, and everything he did glorified the holy Name of the Lord. This king ruled the nation with wisdom and fulfilled what was revealed to him, going to war with his soldiers and fighting alongside his army as another faithful warrior of Heaven. Today, people who act like the son of Jesse also see the Most High working on their behalf.

In verse 1 of Psalm 108, David said that his heart was prepared to praise the Lord. As a servant of God, he declared this with fear and trembling before the One who has the final say in everything. Next, the psalmist commanded the musical instruments to awaken (v. 2), for from them would come the chords that would exalt the Lord. If this were our prayer at the break of day, there would not be a single battle lost.

David awoke the dawn (v. 2) to put in order what was necessary to take down the adversary. Those who wake up late miss the opportunities that are presented to everyone. Before problems arise, we must be alert and pray to God to know how to solve them. We must not wait until there is no other way, but rather go forth with faith in the Almighty to accomplish the mission entrusted to us.

One day, all peoples will hear David's praises, including those who were defeated by the strength given to him. The king knew how to worship God and serve Him in good times and bad. How did he do this? Well, he revealed his Source: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27.1). If you have the same faith demonstrated by David, the servant of the Lord will never lose a battle!

The son of Jesse knew that God had hope in him, so He brought him into the world. Have you ever thought about it and come to the conclusion that you are responsible for everything bad that happens to you? Nowadays, Christians are becoming religious, wearing clothes that identify them as such, but confessing their failures. David said that the Lord was his light and salvation, but many are afraid of contracting a disease and succumbing to it.

Your confession governs you; it makes you a victor or a defeated person (Proverbs 18:21). For the psalmist, God's deeds were reason enough for him to be positive, to look at adversities and not fear them. Even the simple revelation of the Father's kind hope for David filled him with courage; after all, he knew Him as the loving, faithful, just, and victorious God, and that is why he loved Him. David also said that Truth reaches to the clouds (verse 4).

It is time for God's people to rise up, speak positive things, and go to war against the adversary with the certainty that they will return with victory. We do not have to walk in fear of the devil, but rather so full of heavenly power that the enemy himself will recognize that we are in Christ and our ability in Him is invincible. God is the Strength of our life, whom shall we fear?

Today's Prayer

God of hope and goodness! Many are deceived by the devil, who even makes some of Your children feel defeated and go out into battle crying, imagining that they will lose. When will they awaken to victory?

In the Bible, there is the example of the most famous king of Israel. David did not return home lamenting. There was a celebration when he returned home, because he believed in You and followed Your direction. People recognized him as a victorious warrior.

We must take possession of what You say! We have been clothed with Your power to be successful. No one will stand before us because of You. In this we can believe! Just as You were with David and other Your servants, You will be with us!
