The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his own esteem

Proverbs 18.11

The teachings we receive in life are like the riches we accumulate, which make us wealthy, whether from good or bad things. That's why it's necessary to be aware of what we assemble. You see, your farm can be productive or not, and that will make a difference. If it produces bad fruit, it will be hopeless for those who live next to you, because they will share your problems. Be wise and you will live at the highest level!

If your farm produces positive results, you will enjoy the blessings. What matters most is to be in communion with the Lord. Then your happiness will be complete and endless. Now, to do this, refuse the offers from the kingdom of darkness that the enemy will try to put in your way, because they will take away your peace. Be open to the opportunities shown to you by God.

If your strong city is made up of good deeds, you will be blessed, and the Lord will help you out of any adversity. After all, He is good at recognizing those who love Him and loves them too: Jesus answered and said to him: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make Our home with him (John 14.23). Whoever sows good will reap good (Galatians 6:9).

Anyone who has become rich without helping the needy, or has obtained goods dishonestly, and still boasts about not believing in the Lord, will face continual problems on their farm. However, the Word shows a different example: There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people and prayed to God always (Acts 10:1,2). Cornelius' work made him stand out!

Because he was a good person, who helped those in need and sought the Lord, Cornelius was visited by the angel, who told him the good news: And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, 'What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God” (Acts 10.4). The Lord loves the faithful and repays them with salvation. This man was told to call Peter, so that he could be evangelized and saved (vv. 5,6).

In the godless rich man's imagination, his farm is his strong city, indestructible and beyond the reach of the forces of evil. He even thinks that it is surrounded by high walls. This is not true, because the wicked beings enter it and torment him. The righteous see the opposite happening, because they are guarded by God, who says: “No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling” (Psalm 91.10).

Decide who you will be here and in eternity. Your choice is crucial for the future. Surrender to the Creator and live well. Did the world come out of nothing? Don't entrust your eternal happiness to any religion or to what some crazy people say. Bow down before the Lord and you'll see how faithful He is!

Today's Prayer

Beloved God! How happy we are that You are our strong city and our glorious farm! Because we stand firm on Your Word, we will never be confounded or struck down, but guarded continually.

You promise never to leave us nor forsake us, so we live peacefully and succeed in everything we put our hands to. No evil will come upon us and our family, and we will be admitted into Your kingdom!

You protect us, for You are the consuming fire around us. Even if the enemy comes with all his might, You will be by our side to guard us until the end. Father, we are grateful that You have called us to be at Your side!
