And I appeal to you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words

Hebrews 13.22

The Lord has special messages for us in His Word, which is Jesus (Revelation 19:13), His only begotten Son. Every word that comes from God's lips does not return to Him empty; rather, it accomplishes everything He has determined (Isaiah 55:11). So, whether it is a word of rebuke, exhortation, or encouragement, accept it, for your victory will be great. Remember: there is no evil in the Most High, even when He does not give you the blessing you so desired. Obey the Lord!

The invincible God created all things by His Word (Hebrews 1:3). Jesus acted just like the Father; He spoke, and the work was done. Yet on one occasion, He ministered healing to a blind man and then asked him if he could see: So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” (Mark 8. 23 -24).

The man still could not see clearly, and the question that remains is this: who failed—the Lord or the blind man, who “did not believe as he should,” as some claim when they pray for the sick and blame them for not being healed? The explanation for why some people do not receive the miracle they request is found in the Scriptures. We must never give up; rather, we must meditate on the Word to find the answer.

The Master's reaction was immediate, for He was not in sin. If the blind man had been guilty before God, Jesus would have prayed for him, the Father would have forgiven him, and he would have been healed (James 5:15). Christ laid His hands on the man again, and his sight was fully restored: Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. (Mark 8.25) When you intercede for someone, remain attentive to the Lord so you may receive further direction!

Imagine that in the church there is a worker who is almost ready to become a disciple of the Master, yet it is clear that he should not be consecrated to the ministry (1 Timothy 5:22). However, since there is a need for a pastor to lead the work somewhere, the worker is anointed for the role. Sometime later, it becomes evident that the decision was hasty because God's guidance was not sought. Scandals will be avoided if we listen to the Lord!

The Scriptures contain countless lessons for us. One of them is that haste leads to sin when someone acts without being instructed (Proverbs 19:2). Our steps must be preceded by Heaven's approval: He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly. (Proverbs 14.29). We are called to exalt only the Lord and His Word; everything else is unworthy of our attention. God knows all things!

The author of the Letter to the Hebrews urged his readers to bear with the word of this exhortation, which he had written briefly. It is always best to be in communion with the Lord, so that His work does not suffer harm on our part. Those who claim to be prepared, but have not been approved by God, are exalting folly, and therefore will never receive the divine anointing.

Today's Prayer

Lord of the holy ministry! The cry of Your servant came from Your heart so that no one would disgrace Your work through sinful habits. You search every heart and therefore know when someone is ready—or not—for the ministry.

We must learn to bear the word of this exhortation so that we do not fall into the clutches of the enemy, who wants to destroy Your servants at all costs. We need to walk in Your Spirit to do good!

Forgive us for failing to seek You and listen to Your voice. At times, we postpone obedience and later recognize our error. Forgive those who have strayed from You because of the devil’s snare. They weep bitterly for having sinned. Help them, Lord!
