Humanity has witnessed great natural phenomena such as earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and storms, and the Word reveals that the earth will move out of her place. Not even the authorities in this field can predict what will happen in the near future. Therefore, let us seek the Lord’s help in His Word, for only He has knowledge of all things and can guide us on how to act. This is not alarmism; it is realism. Take heed!

When the Lord announced that Sarah, at 90 years of age, would give birth to a son, from whose descendants the Savior would come, I believe everyone laughed (Genesis 17:15–19). Abraham was 100 years old and, according to the Bible, his body was already as good as dead (Romans 4:19). God waited to announce that the heir of the promise would be born when, from a human perspective, it would be impossible. Thus, he was conceived, born, nursed, and grew up normally.

Abraham was strengthened by God, and his vigor was so great that after Sarah's death, at the age of 137, he married again, and his new wife bore him six more sons, in addition to his daughters (Genesis 25:1-4). The Lord fulfills His promises; therefore, one day, the earth will move out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts and in the day of His fierce anger. Those who live will see it, and those who do not repent of their sins will weep bitterly!

God promised to make the heavens shake. Imagine the terror people will feel when the sound of mighty thunderclaps rings out! When the heavens shake and the earth shifts from its place, how will they react before God? Woe to those who do not believe that this will happen! At times, some are frightened by phenomena in the firmament, but the Lord said that no one should be afraid of them (Jeremiah 10:2).

The closer Christ's return draws near, the more signs we will see in nature (Matthew 24:29-30). Jesus said that this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.  (Matthew 24:34b). However, our hearts should not despair, because God knows all things. If our lives are at risk, He will act, removing us from the path of danger or removing the evil that could harm us. Jesus said, Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Mark 13.31). So be at peace and trust in the Lord, for He knows how to protect His own!

About 700 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah revealed that a virgin would conceive and give birth to a son whose name would be Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23), and this came to pass. Certainly, many mocked his prophecy, for that day was long in coming, but it finally arrived. The sad truth is that the Jewish religious authorities were so attached to their own interpretations of Scripture and to the lack of material evidence that they failed to see the most beautiful event the world has ever witnessed!

Today, we wait with hope for the return of Jesus, who will come to take us out of this chaotic world (John 14:3). Many still do not believe in Jesus as the promised Messiah, but we who believe in Him and trust in His promise to return eagerly await the day when we will be taken to Heaven and will never return to this world full of deception.
