THEY REFUSED THE STILL WATERS

Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up over them, the waters of the River, strong and mighty—the king of Assyria and all his glory; He will go up over all his channels and go over all his banks

Isaiah 8:7

How sad it is to see authorities turning a blind eye to the cancer of corruption that is spreading in various nations, or giving in to it under the pretext that if they don't, others will and will be elected. This lie from Satan prevents justice from reigning. This bad example reaches the poor and vulnerable, and many begin to commit crimes of all kinds.

Something similar happened in Judah, and the prophet Isaiah explained the reason for the people's wrong decisions regarding the walk of faith proposed by God: “Inasmuch as these people refused the waters of Shiloah that flow softly, and rejoice in Rezin and in Remaliah’s son” (Isaiah 8:6). We must never despise the Word, even when it seems unlikely to us. The Lord would never tell a lie.

What does not come from God should never be accepted. Behind the suggestions of corrupt people is the devil and his demons. So, if we give in to sin, our spiritual defense will weaken, and only the Father knows where that will lead. Therefore, do not accept dishonesty. For example, the tax we fail to pay will testify against us, because God will give it a voice to compel us to correct the error.

Likewise, adultery and other deviations will rise up against those who gave birth to them (James 1:15), serving as proof that the person cooperated with Satan. The Christian must be pure, holy, and victorious; otherwise, nothing will deliver him at the judgment. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad (2 Corinthians 5:10). Dedicate yourself to holiness!

The kingdom of Israel was led astray by the lies of Jeroboam, a man accustomed to the sins of Egypt, where he thought he could find a safe place to hide, but if he had hidden himself in God, he would have taught his persecutors a valuable lesson. It is in temptation that we show whom we serve: whether the Lord or the liar. Prevent the devil's name from being invoked even in the depths of your being. Giving him an opening is not worth it!

We do not know who will rule us in the future, but if we are firmly rooted in God, nothing evil will touch us, even if it is the deadliest weapon of Hell or the most beautiful and coveted person by sinners. We were saved to live the holiness of Jesus, as the Word says: But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption (1 Corinthians 1.30). What a wonderful statement!

The prophecy in Isaiah 8:7 refers to the alliance of the kingdom of Israel made with the king of Syria to attack Judah and defeat the kingdom of David, but they failed. However, the wickedness they allowed into their hearts attracted the invasion of Assyria, which attacked them and took the spoils of Samaria and Syria. Take care!

In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

God who sees all! You cannot play with fire without getting burned, nor accept anything from the enemy without being captured by him. What the adversaries tried against Judah did not prosper, because Assyria came and took everything that Samaria and Damascus had gathered. Help us, Father!

You made the Assyrians attack the rebellious and vain kingdom of the North and the wicked kingdom of Syria, taking with them all the wealth of those nations. Nothing that we obtain through the hand of the devil can be considered ours!

Lord, awaken those who steal, commit adultery, lie, and deceive to gain advantages. If they do not repent, they will be condemned on Judgment Day. The gentle waters of Siloam, which represent Christ, must be sought, not abandoned!
