Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks

Ephesians 5:4

After we were saved, God became completely zealous for us. That is why, throughout His Word, He warns us not to do things that will complicate our walk and life in His presence. Those who obey the Father will be preserved from many bad situations that could happen to them. Nothing from the enemy should be sought; thus, we will always walk with our heads held high.

In the verse that begins this message, the Lord refers to three attitudes that apparently will do us no harm. However, many people practice them and say they do not understand why they suffer. It is good to see what the Bible says about Job. It may be that, just as He did with that servant, the devil wants God's permission to act in your life. We know nothing about what happens in the spiritual realm; only in Heaven will we learn everything and know which doors we have opened for the enemy to oppress us.

Job possessed all the qualities of a God-fearing servant, but one breach allowed the devil to strike him: Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.” (Job 2:3)

The Bible teaches that filthiness should not occupy our minds, our hearts, or our mouths. Why speak what will bring us moral filth? It will separate us from the Lord and place us in the hands of the evil one, who will waste no time in harming us. The enemy does not care if we speak ill of him or use unseemly words, for what he desires is to destroy us, separating us from God.

The second warning is about behaviors that resemble foolishness or stupidity, conduct that God's children must avoid at all costs. Some people may notice relatives who act this way, and this warning is precisely reinforcement for them to pray for those family members and encourage them to behave in a healthy manner, encouraging them to believe that they have already been healed by Jesus.

Finally, we are warned about coarse jesting, which occurs when people talk about others with jokes, mockery, and bad taste. We are all equal in Christ, so we must never let the devil use us to humiliate anyone. The Most High makes Himself available to His people to answer prayers that seek to give people uplifting words. One must not joke about other people's misfortune.

Such things are not fitting for those who wish to live alongside Jesus, but some claim that this has no bearing on our entry into Heaven. Never believe in the spirits of the evil kingdom or the people they use. In this way, your life will not be subject to hellish power. It is good to give thanks to the Almighty! He loves what is good!

In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

Father, our Teacher in Truth! You are the Friend we found to go with us to the battlefield, strengthening us to set the lost free. Help us make them more than conquerors!

May Your servants strive to show that Your works, which delivered troubled people, still happen today. We cannot accept seeing people with few friends, because if someone has a problem, You have already suffered on their behalf!

Our mission will be considered complete when we see Your people and their relatives living in harmony, without malice, and fighting for Your Kingdom of love and peace. Be glorified in our midst!
