TO ORDER AND ESTABLISH

Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this

Isaiah 9:7

Here is one of God’s guarantees regarding our future: Christ’s reign will never end. We have been freed from the domain of darkness, in which we were subjects of the devil and had no peace or certainty that, after death, we would live free from the activity of demons. However, through the work of salvation accomplished by Jesus on our behalf, we are no longer under evil influences, but have truly begun to live (Colossians 2:15).

Furthermore, we can expect greater things in the Kingdom of Heaven, for the Father speaks of the increase and development of this principality and peace, promising that there will be no end. We must not only remember that our sins have been forgiven; the Lord desires that we continue to know more about Him (Hosea 6:3) in order to live free from the devil's attempts to oppress us again. Believe in God!

It is interesting to note that before Jesus came into the world, the Kingdom of God was not directly mentioned in the Bible. However, Isaiah, who lived about 700 years before the Savior was born, calls the Messiah the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Christ began to speak explicitly of the Kingdom not as the government of a nation, but as a reign over people who are born again and, therefore, are subjects and citizens of the Lord’s Kingdom.

With each person who converts to Christ through the preaching of the Gospel, this principality increases, as does the joy of the Father, who does not want anyone to be lost. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). If the Lord desires the salvation of all, why would we not do what is necessary for Him to rejoice with us?

Through Isaiah, God declared that there will be no end to David’s throne, and that His kingdom will be established and strengthened in judgment (by His wise decisions to bless and reward us) and in righteousness (by His just laws that guide our acts of faith in the name of Jesus). Therefore, do your part in the task entrusted to you, knowing that the Lord rejoices over every convert who works to increase His Kingdom.

The Kingdom was established by Jesus, as Isaiah foretold, and will continue to grow and expand forever. With God, there is no doubt or inconsistency, for with the Lord, yes is yes, and no is no. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No.” For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. (Matthew 5:37). What satisfaction we feel when we speak according to divine guidance! If our words have an evil origin, we will be in a bad situation.

The conclusion of the verse studied today is that the Lord will do everything He has promised, and this will bring joy to those who fear Him. He never does anything evil, but blesses us greatly. Be a Christian grounded in judgment and righteousness. Amen?

Today's Prayer

Lord of Truth! We are pleased to see what You say about all matters fulfilled. Your decision to want us by Your side for eternity moves us and encourages us not to stray!

With the forgiveness of our sins, we come before You to thank You for all that Your love has done for humanity. If, today, we can call You Father, it is due solely and unconditionally to Your love. We are grateful that You thought of each one of us and saved us!

Your Kingdom is made up of people who have come to You to receive Your forgiveness and Your mercy. Without Jesus, we are nothing and can do nothing. In You is the fountain of living water, which quenches our thirst, saves us, cleanses us, and heals us. Thank you, Father!
