Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South

Genesis 13:1

Abraham's disastrous trip to Egypt almost caused him to lose his wife. We do not know what went through the patriarch's mind, but it must have been difficult to see Pharaoh send for Sarah. While she was being prepared for that meeting—for Abraham, it would be the worst day, because he and Sarah had been chosen to bring forth a descendant who would bring joy to Heaven—the Lord stepped in and humbled the Egyptian king.

The one who was called to leave his land and go to an unknown place, where he would face trials, obeyed and began his journey, steadfast in the words of the Lord (Genesis 12:1-3). God had said that He would be an enemy to Abraham's enemies, therefore, when Sarah was taken to be the wife of the ruler of Egypt, the patriarch believed that no harm would come to her and that she would be returned to him untouched. He relied on the Covenant made by God!

When we understand what we have in the New Covenant made in the blood of Jesus, we are able to go wherever He sends us, because we will not be struck by evil (Psalm 91). Now, we cannot have sin in our hearts. If something from the devil is hidden in our lives, we will be sheltering the demon that will continue to tempt us in everything. Our transgressions must be confessed in order to be forgiven (1 John 1:9)!

We must never defile our spirit, which was born again by the Lord, as the Word declares: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.  (2 Corinthians 5:17). Once we have accepted Jesus, we are recreated in Him. Therefore, whenever we give in to temptation, we must confess it immediately to the Lord, so that nothing evil remains in us (Ephesians 2:10; 4:27).

Pharaoh became desperate when God showed him that Sarah was different from all the women in the world. And Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?  (Genesis 12:18). Those who are in error do not know the way of peace until they go to God and confess their iniquity to Him. Be careful not to die in sin. Save yourself now!

Abraham went up from Egypt with his heart leaping for joy, and the same will happen to you when you speak the truth and reconcile with the people you have wronged. Don't be stubborn! After death, there will be no repentance for anyone. What you say to the Lord now will count, without hiding any fault. Let God's love surround you, and the hatred that the enemy has planted in your heart will disappear forever. Don't make excuses, speak up!

The patriarch left Egypt with everything he had, leaving nothing behind. In the Bible, Egypt represents sin. However, when you confess your faults, and the Father forgives you, you are acquitted, for Christ has already paid for your salvation. Cry out to the Lord to be redeemed!

In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

Father of love and forgiveness! Because this person trusts in You, they have already shed many tears to show repentance. Help them to follow the teachings of Your Word, for they are one step away from being saved!

What days of torment those were for Your servant when he questioned what was happening to him. He had been obeying You since he left his father's house, fulfilling Your command. How similar this reader is to Abraham!

Hear everything this person tells You, Lord! Forgive their wrong decisions, for Your Son paid the price for the redemption of humanity. Strengthen them to be cleansed forever, so that they may smile again in pure innocence. Purify those who cry out to You!
