UNTIL AN OPPORTUNE TIME

Now when the devil had ended ever temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.

Luke 4.13

The devil is evil itself, which is why he will always pursue people with temptations. Once he has made them sin, the demon that entered them will call others like him to possess them. As Your Word says: Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; all Your waves and billows have gone over me. (Psalm 42.7). Pray asking for deliverance from evil!

When I was a child, a Bible verse made me look at the adultery cases happening in my city and expect the man involved to go bankrupt if he was rich. The Bible declares: For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a crust of bread; And an adulteress will prey upon his precious life. (Proverbs 6.26). On that occasion, a particular case was etched in my mind, about a wealthy man who had a certain affair.

In the countryside of Espírito Santo, the boys used to stay close to the adults to find out who was cheating on their spouse. However, because of this verse from Proverbs, whenever I heard a story like that, I would tell myself, "I'll just wait for the news that such man has failed." The Bible does not fail; everything it says will happen," and so it did. Please understand: no one can deceive the Lord God. Whoever gets involved in an extramarital affair will inevitably end up in poverty!

Hell has exhausted all attempts to bring down Jesus, but evil has no success against our Savior, because the Lord is just, pure, and holy in every sense of the Word of God. The Son of the Most High promised us that Heaven and Earth would pass away, but My words will by no means pass away (Matthew 24:35).

How many innocent people had to sign a false statement at the police station when the investigators arranged for someone to take the blame? That person did it consciously, even with fear written on their face, while confessing, because they were threatened. If they didn't keep the agreement, a family member would pay for the "lie." In this way, the person declared something they didn't do and prevented a relative from being executed. Mercy!

Evil people do not know that they may have even helped a criminal escape from prison here, but in the eternal court, all, before the just Judge, who has eyes like a flame of fire (Revelation 19:12), will look into His eyes and confess everything they did and will even announce their sentence (Revelation 2:18). It's such a pity they didn't have time to repent. Divine justice is neither bought nor operated by the liar, but by Jesus!

The trial of Jesus in the Roman Praetorium in Jerusalem was the greatest farce in history (read Mark, chapter 15). The Hebrew priest presented witnesses prepared to lie and did not even presented the reasons for bringing the Master to trial. On one side, the priests of Judaism; on the other, Jesus, who looked everyone in the eye and saw that another person would come to "testify" against the Truth that was being judged there. He will be the Judge of the living and the dead.

Today's Prayer

Lord of Judgment! You know all things and how the devil has gone till the ends of the earth to tempt people to disobey You, but even knowing Your Law, many lie to escape just condemnation.

Many lawyers know how to twist judgment, but on that day when You will be seated on the throne, no one will be able to lie, for Your strength will make them confess the Truth!

After tempting Jesus, the evil one withdrew from Christ for a time, waiting for the moment to torment another righteous person. See how much we have suffered at the hands of the enemy and his demons. All will appear before Your tribunal!
