WHEN WILL IT STOP?

So Saul heeded the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be killed”

1 Samuel 19.6

Jonathan's arguments made Saul swear that David would not die. Jonathan must have been pleased with this news and warned his friend. However, we see that David, even though he had this information, remained prudent, because this is a gift from God. We must also act in this way in all situations; after all, the enemy will try to get in through any loophole to hurt and kill us, which is his ultimate goal (John 10:10).

I think that, during the battles, David not only defended himself against his enemies, but also against Saul's soldiers, knowing that the king would go to great lengths to order one of them to strike God's servant dead. In this way, Saul would be free of his enemy and the people's judgment. Now, in a war, you either kill or you die at the hands of your adversary. David's position was uncomfortable, because even “friendly fire” could go against him. But God is good!

We can be sure of one thing: those who don't listen to the Lord don't listen to human arguments. God knows how to speak to everyone, and whoever resists Him is dominated by an evil spirit. Why do some reject the Most High? Because they want a “taste” of catering to demons. Be on the lookout for attacks from your own people. Jesus said about this: And a man's enemies will be those of his own household (Matthew 10:36).

Saul promised his son that David would be spared. Would he keep that promise? Certainly not, even though he knew the Scriptures. Rebelling against God was the path the king took, even though he knew what would happen to him. Saul would have his son-in-law killed and then, in a disguised way, he would be saddened by what had happened. The wicked are always dangerous!

At the judgment seat of Christ, many will weep and say they are sorry. This pretense happens even in the hearings of men: people try to convince the judges that they were unaware of the seriousness of their actions, or that it was just a joke. However, with the Lord, this tactic will never succeed, because He will show what was going on in the individual's heart when they did evil or ordered someone else to do it. Before Christ, only the truth will prevail (2 Corinthians 5:10). So beware of falling for Satan's lies!

Those who don't really repent are still in the hands of the evil one. That's why, in times of temptation, they tend to do evil. Jesus said that the brave man keeps all his possessions safe. So get right with God to use His power to undo the bonds that tie you to the tempter (Luke 11:21,22). Free yourself to be useful to the Lord, who will keep you from evil. Unlike the enemy, the Lord wants to use your life for good!

Deliverance is an important issue for those who are trapped in sin. If you stay away from God, you won't go to the eternal home, but to perdition. The Bible says:  because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.  (Romans 8:21). Be free!

In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

Lord of the voice that sets free! We want to listen to You so that we don't listen to the devil. The enemy says that we will never be people after your own heart. Father, release those who are still captive, hiding their sins and hatred, when they should be living in Your freedom!

Christ suffered our transgressions, paying the price for us to be redeemed. That's why we have to reveal our failures, so that we can truly be free. Give us the gift of repentance!

Our word must be yes, yes or no, no. We will honor You by living in Your holy presence. Deliver those who only live with wrong thoughts. These, when attacked by evil, pray but receive nothing from You. God, give them Your help!
