WORKING WITH HANDS

Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need

Ephesians 4.28

When the Scriptures speak about our hands, we interpret this as the abilities that the Creator gives us to do His work. After Jesus sent His disciples ahead of Him to the cities He was going to visit, and they returned, the Lord asked them: And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything? So they said, “Nothing.” - (Luke 22.35). The Savior supplies us with everything!

Those called by Christ and ready to do divine work anywhere will have the skills to speak the Word and do the work, overcoming any difficulty. We are the people acquired (1 Peter 2:9) and used by God to help solve people's problems. For this, the Father grants us more than we think or ask (Ephesians 3:20); we just need to cast all our anxiety on Him (1 Peter 5:7).

Some people steal for a living and believe they are doing God's work. I am not referring only to those who steal from the church, whose resources were given for the maintenance of the work, but to those who use the resources entrusted to them to fulfill Jesus' command to go. Such individuals have sold themselves to the devil, as Judas Iscariot did (John 13:2). Others, for example, steal from the government by living on a false pension, obtained through deception. Understand: fraud is theft!

We highlight fraudsters who succumb to anger when they suffer harm. However, the damage done to someone or the government is also theft. The Scriptures reveal that thieves will not inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:10). This message warns those who steal any amount or anyone's property that the gates of Heaven will not open for them. It is time to repent!

We must use the abilities given to us by God to do good and never follow the example of the foolish, who justify their actions by claiming they have done no harm to anyone. The Most High warns us: This is the way of an adulterous woman: she eats and wipes her mouth, and says, “I have done no wickedness.” (Proverbs 30.20). In general, sinners try to become rid of the mistake they have made and explain themselves. Be on guard!

Almost always, behind a bankruptcy, there is someone who seduces the bankrupt with words crafted in Hell, and even after suffering a loss, some people still claim they do not understand the Lord, insisting that they did nothing wrong. The Word declares, "For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a crust of bread; and an adulteress will prey upon his precious life" (Proverbs 6.26). Never let yourself be carried away by the course of the world; seek God's direction in the Bible!

We need to seek in the Holy Book the teachings on how to turn away from the sins around us, which separate us from eternity with God. As you learn the Word, keep it in your heart to share with those who are weak and will not enter the Kingdom of the Lord unless they change. For some, the present is the last message from our heavenly Father. Believe!

Today's Prayer

God of our happiness! We have no words to thank You for the blessing of repenting and beginning life with Your Son. So, we confess our sins committed through actions, words, or thoughts. Forgive us and deliver us from Hell!

We do not want to go to Hell, but, like Zacchaeus, we decide to return everything we have taken from someone, from the church, and from the government. Help us to no longer take anything that is not ours!

Let us know how to use our hands for good, even if it means giving up the luxury and ostentation that shame us, for they do not belong to us. We long to go to Your Kingdom. Change us and we will be changed. Father, we are grateful for Your forgiveness!
